“After 2 years of research, development, fundraising, scratching, writing, performing in churches, theatres and festivals in London and all over the UK, today BurnOut’s ‘Muscovado’ WON the Alfred Fagon Audience Award at a ceremony at the National Theatre hosted by Rufus Norris!”
– BurntOut Theatre
Muscovado, written by Matilda Ibini, started with a workshop in Brixton on the 14/12/13, after many more sessions, scratch nights and re-writes Muscovado was premiered at Holy Trinity Church, Clapham (specifically chosen as it was the church attended by the famous abolitionist, William Wilberforce). It received rave reviews and went on to tour the UK.
James G. Nunn played Parson Lucy in the original cast and is very proud to have been part of the show and the research and development process;
“It was an incredible experience, working with Matilda, the cast and creative team to produce something truly poignant, substantial and memorable; its an actors dream.”
– James G. Nunn
